Brown Statement on the Bipartisan Gold Star Family Support and Installation Access Act Passing the House of Representatives
“Gold Star families have given their loved ones to protect our freedom, and I am proud to cosponsor this legislation which provides them with much-needed support. As a Member of Congress with 30-years of military experience, I know all too well the challenges military families face when a son, daughter, wife or husband is overseas. However, too many Gold Star families are not provided with the resources and accommodations they truly deserve. After having made such a significant sacrifice for our country, we owe it to them to fill the gaps in current law and ensure they have the benefits they need. I thank Congressman Bacon for his leadership on this bill, and urge my Senate colleagues to pass this important legislation.”
The Gold Star Family Support and Installation Access Act was introduced on October 2, 2017 and passed the House with 89 bipartisan cosponsors. The bill now goes to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
