Congressman Anthony G. Brown Travels To Texas To Investigate Border Facilities Used in Cruel Trump Family Separation Policy
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Anthony Brown (MD-04) is joining Congressmen Filemon Vela (TX-24) and Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) on Saturday, June 23, at the U.S.-Mexico border near McAllen and Brownsville, Texas to see the Ursula Border Patrol station and processing center where families were being separated, as well as the Port Isabel ICE detention center where parents are currently being held. They will seek to better understand the impact of President Trump’s cruel and ineffective family separation and zero tolerance policies, and what needs to be done to address this manufactured humanitarian crisis.
“The amount of trauma inflicted upon these families by the Trump administration demands of us to see what is going on firsthand,” said Congressman Brown. “There are many outstanding questions despite the sudden reversal by President Trump - particularly how we will immediately reunite these families, keep parents and their children out of indefinite incarceration and undo the ‘zero tolerance’ policy that created this crisis.”
