Hoyer, Brown Statement on Funding for the Fully Consolidated FBI Headquarters

Washington, DC, May 1, 2017

Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) and Congressman Anthony Brown (MD-04) released the following statement after it was announced that $523 million to fund the new, fully consolidated FBI headquarters would be included in legislation to fund the government for Fiscal Year 2017:

“Fully funding the new, consolidated FBI headquarters is a matter of national security. While providing an additional $523 million is a significant step forward to continuing the project, we are disappointed that the project was not fully funded. Prince George’s County remains the best choice for the FBI, and we are committed to ensuring the project receives the funding needed to get it done. We urge the General Services Administration to make a site decision and begin building the new, consolidated headquarters. We will continue to work with our colleagues in Congress to move this process forward, which is important for the economic development of Prince George’s County, the state of Maryland, and the national security of our country.”
