Congressman Anthony G. Brown: It’s Time For America To Get Some Answers, And For Congress To Get Back To Work

Congressman Anthony G. Brown (MD-04) issued the following statement after the Democratic Party secured a majority in the House of Representatives for the first time in eight years.

“Our victory tonight is a clear repudiation of President Trump’s far-right, divisive agenda. Voters across the country largely rejected his campaign of fear and made clear that they are tired of having their health care under constant threat.

“As we look toward next Congress, I am encouraged by the record number of Democratic veterans, women, and candidates of color who will be added to our diverse caucus. This new coalition will push an aggressive agenda to expand opportunity for working families, lower health care costs and ensure Washington is working for the American people.

“Congress will also have the ability to fulfil its constitutional duty, and demand accountability and transparency from the Trump Administration. Under Republican leadership, the House of Representatives refused to conduct any oversight. This undemocratic, unconstitutional dynamic will exist no longer. I look forward to seeking answers, especially regarding President Trump’s misuse of military resources. This is a new day in America, and we have a lot work to do.”
